Mercy…mercy!!!!

What’s what with the Souad Massi hype ba2a!!!

“Are you going to Souad Massi’s concert?”..this is becoming more like a greeting nowadays…walahi.  Whenever somebody calls or meets you…they just hit you with this question!!!

Well, the lady is good, she has a beautiful voice, and I would never open my mouth when it comes to her music…bas honestly speaking I can’t relate to her khales…the language is not smooth enough..I have hard time understanding her!!! and am not really into reading lyrics while driving-da if you consider it an option aslan-which is probably the only time I can listen properly to some good music.  Howa generally speaking what usually attracts me to a song is the lyrics…the tune is important..bas to me, if I can’t get the lyrics…then bye-bye oghneya!!

Fa to me Rima Khsheish and Lena Chamamyan for istance are super stimulating!! 7ad gheri bey7ebhom “I wonder!!”..the thing ba2a when I say this to anyone..they go like..”what??” “7ad y2ool keda”…and shoot along ba2a a “zoh2a we7esh awi” kinda look (you can easily figure a contemptuous look over the phone..no! 😉

which is ok..I don’t mind people’ s looks anywayz…bas el fekra eno..I really wonder if it is only me..wala there are other people on this planet who really can’t relate to Souad Massi!!

On another note ba2a: A Thousand Splendid Suns is the kind of book that would leave the reader with a faint miasma of disappointment…to be fair, Khaled Hosseini is an awesome story teller if I may say, his way of narration is flawless.. he skillfully entiwnes the characters and events. However, this novel can not be compared to the Kite Runner…still am not done yet..bas about to, but not totally taken.

Heads Up!!!

Khaled El Hosseini’s A Thousand Splendid Suns is now available at the Kotob Khan, I managed to go this morning and get my copy. And let me tell you…I kinda finished the first five chapters while drinking a cup of cappucino..it is a page turner as expected.

On another note: for those who couldn’t get their copies of Sa7ar El Mougy’s new novel “Noon”..new copies have arrived.  It is really amazing to know that hundreds of copies have been sold in the first book signing session!!! and the bookstore actually ran out of copies in that first night.  Kaman, Karam told me this morning eno it is gonna be the book of the month, which is really cool:D

The Happy Post

If you’re happy and you know it, clap your hands (clap clap)
If you’re happy and you know it, clap your hands (clap clap)
If you’re happy and you know it, then your face will surely show it
If you’re happy and you know it, clap your hands. (clap clap)

If you’re happy and you know it, stomp your feet (stomp stomp)
If you’re happy and you know it, stomp your feet (stomp stomp)
If you’re happy and you know it, then your face will surely show it
If you’re happy and you know it, stomp your feet. (stomp stomp)

If you’re happy and you know it, shout “Hurray!” (hoo-ray!)
If you’re happy and you know it, shout “Hurray!” (hoo-ray!)
If you’re happy and you know it, then your face will surely show it
If you’re happy and you know it, shout “Hurray!” (hoo-ray!)

If you’re happy and you know it, do all three (clap-clap, stomp-stomp, hoo-ray!)
If you’re happy and you know it, do all three (clap-clap, stomp-stomp, hoo-ray!)
If you’re happy and you know it, then your face will surely show it
If you’re happy and you know it, do all three. (clap-clap, stomp-stomp, hoo-ray!)

Berry reminded me with this song from the good old days… yalla..yalla..turn your speakers on and sing along, it is a mood booster walahi 😀

Oh..boy, am happy and my face is actually showing it. I believe it is the May effect. I love this month particularly for 29 yrs ago, it has witnessed the arrival of the twins (moi et Nesrina) to the big big world.

Hence, I am the Birthday girl from 1-28 May ;), mmmm….Well, actually today is Juka’s a.ka. Engy Birthday…fa she is the real BD girl today 😀 “bousas ya jukes”.

What’s happening in the pinky world of little miss Nooni?? Not much actually, work, outings, movies, reading..same old, same old.   Things are pretty slow on my side, it is summer w keda ba2a, fa the energy level is p-r-e-t-t-y low..and I have sort of an ongoing mental fessssssssssssss  keda…bas ya3ni, the main thing is me back to studying…yep..yep..yep, applied for a Mgmnt Certificate that I need to undertake at the AUC.

“So insanely jealous it hurts.  This is the first time you’ve ever been jealous in your life.  Now you finally understand what it feels like. It’s like a brush fire torching your heart” this is a line from Kafka on the Shore that hit a nerve while I was reading it, it happened that it went along with an incident keda that took place the very same day. Never read anything that described “jealousy” as this line…it is a heck of a brush fire begad.

Speaking of Kafka on the Shore, I would recommend reading it. Nothing spectacular, but a nice read. However, people like myself with weak hearts and extreme fertile imagination would probably suffer from the violent images sometimes.  Ya3ni, personally speaking I would have appreciated if someone warned me before reading; the mental image of Johnnie Walker chewing on cats hearts wasn’t really that mesmerizing.

N on the go,

After a while – Veronica A. Shoffstall

After a while you learn
the subtle difference between
holding a hand and chaining a soul
and you learn
that love doesn’t mean leaning
and company doesn’t always mean security.
And you begin to learn
that kisses aren’t contracts
and presents aren’t promises
and you begin to accept your defeats
with your head up and your eyes ahead
with the grace of woman, not the grief of a child
and you learn
to build all your roads on today
because tomorrow’s ground is
too uncertain for plans
and futures have a way of falling down
in mid-flight.
After a while you learn
that even sunshine burns
if you get too much
so you plant your own garden
and decorate your own soul
instead of waiting for someone
to bring you flowers.
And you learn that you really can endure
you really are strong
you really do have worth
and you learn
and you learn
with every goodbye, you learn…
