6/365 a genuine attempt

A sign placed at El Hegaz St, Heliopolis. Some friends thought it’s cheesy… I found it a genuine move (hearts excluded) 😉

Satisfied (El7amdolelah) :D

Don’t be timid
Don’t be afraid to hurt
Run toward the flame, run toward the fire
Hold on for all your worth

Cause the only real pain
Your heart can never know
Is the feeling of regret
When you don’t let your feeling’s show
So did you say it
Did you mean it
Did you lay it on the line, did you make it count
Did you look ‘em in the eye & did they feel it
Did you say in time
Did you say out loud
Cause if you did Hun
Then you lived some
And that feeling inside
It’s called satisfied

and she is

releasing….a sigh of relief, for she cleaned up the 2010 mess and ready with open heart and mind for 2011.

Wishing….everyone a happy new year.  faith-filled and promising tomorrow(s).

Vowing….to make (at least a little) difference, and to pick up on a childhood dream.

Cheering…enthusiastically for  Zamalek tonight ;))

Love,

Nerro, Rateeba, and Ensaf

‪Les Petits Plaisirs de NE :D‬

3ala gherar Les Petits Plaisirs d’Amelie….She enjoys all sorts of little pleasures :D‬

‪- Sloshing in cold water after a steamy shower.‬

‪- The pleasant smell of trees and greenery after the rain.‬

‪- Taking a spoonful of a freshly cooked Molokheya (men el 7alla) while ta2leya is still crispy.‬

‪- Finding money even a coin…in her jeans pockets or coats.‬

‪- Turning on the radio…and accidentally hearing the right song that suits the constantly changing mood.‬

‪- Stumbling across people who can understand her incomplete sentences.‬

‪- A child’s giggle and elderly happily contoured face.‬

‪- An unexpected friendly gesture; from a sincere pat on a shoulder to a warm hug.‬

‪- Devouring a big sized Nutella jar and sipping coffee over a cozy chit chat on a bench across the Nile.‬

‪- The salty taste of a pickled onion after a heavenly piece of basboosa.‬

‪- The smell of freshly baked pastries in the house. Or the way the house smells on Friday.‬

‪- Walking barefoot on marble floors…the open space inside the Citadel’s (Mohamed Ali) Mosque in specific.‬

‪- Watching kittens clumsily trying to work their way through.‬

‪- Seeing a starfish‬

‪- An Adrenaline rush.‬

‪- Knowing a secret that very few or better no one else knows.‬

‪- Anagram-ing her long drives away…nothing serves perfectly as the new car plates :D‬

‪- Cuddling, watching movies, and sipping hot chocolate in a lazy cold Saturday afternoon.‬

‪- The soft velvety texture of a warda baladi‬

‪- Rinsing seasonal strawberries and inhaling the entrancing aroma.‬

‪- A gentle deep eye contact with a beloved that conveys that she is the WORLD without saying it.‬

setchi el 7abayeb ya 7abiba…tara ra

Mothers Day is a few days away…and the most prominent question these days is; hatgibo eih fi 3eed el 2om!! no?

yalla share your thoughts and ideas for the best present for our lovely precious Mamas.

Also, Mamas always have very special memories and stories about presents given to them by their children.  for instance; my Mama today gets fancy and nice presents, yet she cherishes the handmade cards my sister and I used to make while we were very young…she has kept every single  flawed note and card.  She never misses an opportunity to get them out of their makhba2 serry and re-read them  😀

what’s your Mama’s most cherished present?

Happy Motherss Day

On Belonging ;D

100_7675

Tayeb seriously, tell I shouldn’t feel that I belong to this place 😀
The minute I stepped in Disney World I felt at home..at ease. I laughed my heart out, and sang along (Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious).
ahhhhhh ya albi…If only I was a real cartoon princess 😀

Quickies

Obra…Obra..Obra: or 2asr sakafet saft el laban. That’s what I can now call the once allegedly was the Cairo Opera House. (after attending a musical at the MAIN HALL).

The Cairo Tower: ewww, what’s with the flashing lights. For those who haven’t seen this yet. The tower now hideously lights up with different color schemes. (a7mar, asfar, mauve, and sometimes kolo ma3 ba3do).

Praxa: a superb musical comedy; a live proof that Egyptian extraordinary talents do exist, and they are no longer urban myths or deceased legends. The whole show (performance, music, and Scenography) was simply candy for the soul.

Change the channel

ghayar-el-mahata

During the past few months, Egyptians have been haunted with catastrophic headlines and top stories on a daily basis – from murders, to corruption, to a series of fires, to sexual harassment… not to mention the effect of the global economical crises that the Egyptian officials allegedly confirmed hasn’t significantly affected the (already) deteriorating economy. Seriously, it was like a spell has been cast on Egypt and caused a series of unfortunate events.

Amid this grim, Egyptian bloggers decided to revolt against the country’s current rueful state and bring out some positive energy to the surface through the “Change the Channel” campaign.  Get to know more about the initiative from Tarek.

The kick off  will fall on the same day that has the same number of the month; ya3ni our date is the 1st of Jan. 09.

Yalla nghayar el ma7atta 🙂

Last Night- a night to remember

It was terrific, indescribably awesome. I came home euphoric and couldn’t get myself to sleep till morning, fa now am trying to keep my head up as much as I can.

I can’t thank all those who came yesterday to celebrate with us enough, your presence meant a lot to me, especially those friends whose  warmth and soothing faces were gleaming around every corner.

Seriously ya3ni..without you things would have gone out of control (given that we-Dido & I- started to practically freak out as soon as people started to show up in the Kotob Khan).

In a nutshell,

I love you aktar 7aga 😀

Of the pinky life of moi & miraculous equations

Well, the past period wasn’t all pinky, I had a few purple days..one cannot dislike purple days though, for A) life is a series of a pink and purple days and they correspondingly lead to each other  B) purple is tres a la mode 😉

I have to admit, that although I was super stressed at work, and had other-distressing- issues along side, yet what really put me that down was “disappointment”.  The thing is I believe in people more than any other thing in the world, more than I should to be honest.  (To my surprise or not) I was totally disappointed in many people lately, I don’t want to go whine about it for long.  I have to admit, it is not their fault, it is mine…coz I don’t learn from past experiences, I don’t or pretend not to see the Crystal Clear signs, I just keep expecting and hoping for the best -which is pretty lame and childish not to mention draining-

Note to self: new year’s resolution should be flexibility and learning from past experiences.

It was like a huge engulfing wave that brought along so much despondency, but hey it is over with.

Off with the purple..let’s go pink!!

Mama Mia + Meteorological delights =  Mood Booster

It was that very Friday when I went out to watch Mamma Mia with a friend when – in a strange turn of events- Autumn has decided to make a guest star appearance in the land of the Pharaohs.  Rumor has it, Winter is approaching…It is getting a bit chilly in the early morning and late evenings..well not so late evenings ya3ni.   The thunderous appearance was genuinely welcomed J, and has significantly altered the mood.

Note to you:

Dr. Seuss 2al eih: ” those who mind don’t matter, and those who matter don’t mind”, so if you do mind..then you don’t matter, no!!  (not in that haughty manner that it sounds)

Book Recommendation:

Half of a yellow sun by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
